The informal California Zero Emissions Group started in January 2022 - We will be using this Page for ACTION!!
Our aim is to help the Legislators and Governor of California pass meaningful legislation to get to Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions rapidly, and then follow up with help in getting programs adequately funded, and the policies, codes and regulations to make things happen fast! The state agency CARB (California Air Resources Board) has been asked to come up with a climate action plan called the 2022 Scoping Plan which is supposed to guide state leaders and agencies. As you cna see below, this Scoping Plan is proving to bea big disappointment.
Stay tuned - we will be publishing updates and action plans as we progress.
If you wish to get involved, fill out the Contact form on the home page or About & Contact page stating your ideas, or what you would like to do and how much time you can devote. Thanks!

Responding to State Agency CARB Efforts to define a Climate Action Plan
1. It's a disappointment. Here's the link to their Draft Scoping Plan

2. An informal Coalition submitted a joint letter online to CARB to express their disappointment with the draft plan and especially CARB's Proposed Alternative 3 - I signed this letter (as Hari Lamba, Brighter Climate Futures). Download a copy of their letter by clicking on one of the buttons below.
3. Overall the situation is not good. My assessment of this and my Comments submitted online to CARB can be downloaded by clicking on the other button below.
It appears that after June 2022, we will have to organize more effectively at every level if we are to get California State leaders to come up with a meaningful and quantitative plan to meet the state's commitments to meet the needs of the Climate Crisis and the needed energy transition.
